Uday Bhawalkar
(vocal-dhrupad)

Uday Bhawalkar was born in Madhya Pradesh, India. His initial training in music started at the age of eight under the guidance of his sister. His training in dhrupad started in 1981 when he received a scholarship to become a student of the renowned Dhrupad vocalist, Ustad Zia Fariuddin Dagar. Later he also received training from the Veena maestro Ustad Zia Mohinuddin Dagar for several years.

Since 1985, Uday Bhawalkar has been performed at many important music festivals and conferences in India and received critical acclaim for his style of dhrupad singing.

Uday Bhawalkar was a visiting faculty at the Conservatorium in Rotterdam for two years and at the World Music School in Amsterdam. He had several successful concert tour of Europe, Canada and U.S.A.
